PESC-RESPIN

The Pan-European stakeholder consultation (PESC) for IPBES from the ECA Network and the European project RESPIN invite you for a joint meeting that will provide opportunities for networking and exchange among the stakeholders - National Focal Points, experts, organisations at the science-policy interface – in the field of biodiversity and climate change, in the Europe and Central Asia region.

The meeting, co-organised by RESPIN, the ECA Network and Biodiversa+, will take place from Monday 10th afternoon to Thursday 13th morning (included) of March 2025 at the Residence Palace in Brussels, Belgium. We therefore advise travelling on Monday morning and Thursday afternoon if possible.

The programme will involve:
  • How to engage with IPBES and IPCC as a national focal point or experts. Existing support for National Focal Points and experts, best practices and strategies between knowledge holders and knowledge users, how to participate to the second IPBES Global Assessment;
  • Uptake of IPBES assessments and IPCC reports. Example of successful uptakes at the national level, how to take into account IPCC AR6 and IPBES Nexus Assessment?;
  • Interlinkages of biodiversity and climate change. Panel discussion and knowledge exchange between scientific communities;
  • Poster session. Capacity building activities and projects, research on climate change and biodiversity, etc.
The RESPIN project developed a survey (available in English, French, Spanish and Russian) to better understand the barriers and incentives to the engagement of knowledge holders in IPBES and the IPCC processes: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/respinsurvey. Answers to the survey will be presented during the meeting. Your contribution will directly influence the development of targeted actions to improve the uptake of existing knowledge on biodiversity and climate in decision-making and to strengthen collaboration between IPBES and IPCC.
